Preparatory work

This page shows all the ideas, experimentation, and processes I went through before arriving at my final idea.

Mind mapping, to get the creative juices flowing.

Testing ideas

I decided to use my printed shirt as a marketing tool rather than a selling product.

After going back and forth between various ideas, and several discussions with lecturers and peers, I decided to use bow ties as my main selling product.

This was the starting idea.

For the brief one product of natural fibres is required. I experimented with an easy knitted scarf using lamb mohair and size 7 needles.

Simple ladder lace pattern: Cast on 24 stitches. Knit 2 rows. Pattern row: K4, (YO, K2Tog, K2). Repeat ( ) 5 times. Repeat pattern row and end with 1 row Knit.

And the end product is quite lovely.

I found knitting with mohair to be a satisfying experience. Mohair lamb wool is very thin, but still strong. Due to its thin yarns it may cause knots in the yarn, and can be straining on your hands. But this particular pattern is very easy and did not cause any noticeable strain on my hands. However, tension needs to be kept quite loose, which slowed the knitting process.

The mohair has a slight luster, and is a bit scratchy, but still soft. I used one ball of wool for this simple ladder lace scarf.
